Demolition Set to Begin on Bluff Cove Property in Palos Verdes this April

Beginning this April, the demolition of Palos Verdes cliffside homes overlooking Bluff Cove will begin. These properties, 1009 through 1121 Palos Verdes Drive West, each worth millions of dollars, were damaged by land and mudslides in the eighties and nineties. Over the last 25 years, there has been talk about tearing down these homes to avoid further damage. The decision has officially been made, and Elite Earthworks and Engineering out of Corona are set to lead the charge with a bid of $911,045.00.

Prior to demolition, all home items including sinks, doors, cabinets and light fixtures will be salvaged and donated to Habitat for Humanity to be sold in their ReStore locations.

Palos Verdes Estates is looking for volunteers to help with stripping the homes beginning March 23 so that everything is cleared out in a timely manner prior to tearing down all of the lots.

After the homes are cleared, that land will undergo tree and vegetation clearing. The land area will then be seeded with native plant species and kept as preserved property.

It is possible that Palos Verdes officials could end up granting a conservation easement to the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservatory, which would forfeit any rights to develop land there.
